Develop knowledge and skills in preparation for Year 5 NAPLAN Numeracy
The Year 5 NAPLAN Full Program contains preparation material and practice questions to support students' exam readiness. The Education Team at Cluey has analysed questions from previous papers and created content that addresses the learning areas and concepts that are assessed in the NAPLAN Maths paper. Sessions in this program target NAPLAN concepts in Number and Algebra, Measurement and Geometry and Statistics and Probability.
This 14 session learning program is made up of the following topics, practice tests and feedback sessions
Uses the inverse relationship between addition and subtraction to identify the number sentence
indentifies an addition expression that matches a given value.
Applies logical reasoning to solve addition and subtraction word problems (intuition)
Solves a subtraction problem using basic facts and place value for 2 and 3 digit numbers
Solves a multi-step problem involving addition and subtraction of 2 or 3 digit numbers
Uses place value to regrop numbers to solve addition problems
Writes numerical representations of four and five digit numbers from words, and vice versa
Identifies the correct number sentence to model a "how many more" problem
Solves a multi-step multiplcation problem (2 by 3 digits, focus on problem)
Solves a division problem involving the interpretation of the remainder
Identifies a word problem for a given multiplication number sentence
Solves problems using the division facts of five
Multiplies a decimal by a whole number to solve a problem
Identifies the decimal form of the fractions with simple denominators of 10 and 5
Identifies collections of coin with the same value e.g. I have a number of coins. They add to how much, what combinations are there?
Identifies equivalent fractions used in context.
Identifies a number between two decimals (e.g. a number less than 0.3 and greater than 0.16)
Identifies decimal fractions to tenths, hundreths, thousandths and tens of thousandths
Counts by halves including mixed numerals
Adds decimals in context
Determines half of the number of items in a display
Uses a pattern to identify a missing number in a table
Uses an addition pattern to determine the sum of the next two terms in a sequence
The course includes an online test for students to practise answering NAPLAN-style questions under simulated exam conditions.
The session following the practice test is dedicated to reviewing the student's results. It's an opportunity to discuss areas of strength and weakness in depth and to develop personalised NAPLAN test strategies.
Converts weeks to days (e.g. How many days between Monday the ?? to Wednesday the ??)
Compare lengths expressed in different units and identifies the longest and/or the shortest
Solves problems by comparing objects by length using metres and parts of metres
Converts from kilometres to metres to compare two or three distances in context.
Compares the dimensions of a rug to the dimension of a room
Calculates the duration of time in a multi-step problem
Choose an appropriate unit of measurement for capacity and mass
Compares the capacity of objects using informal units
Compares volumes of solid objects (using cubes and capacity models)
Identifies a composite shapoe with a line of symmetry
Compares the features of different three-dimensional models
Uses directional language to describe a route
Indentifies which event is most likely to occur
Recognise that probability ranges from 0 and 1
Identifies the effect of a one-step flip
Identifies a question that would result in the given column graph (choose the Q multiple choice)
Identifies and error in a column graph (incorrect scale, mis-represented graph, provides biased info)
Interprets data on a two-way table
Selects a picture graph to represent given data where one picture represents many data values
The course includes an online test for students to practise answering NAPLAN-style questions under simulated exam conditions.
The session following the practice test is dedicated to reviewing the student's results. It's an opportunity to discuss areas of strength and weakness in depth and to develop personalised NAPLAN test strategies.
