What’s new at Cluey this summer

The summer holidays may be the time for swimming, binge-watching and lounging, but research shows kids should make time for learning too. If you’re wondering why, read our latest blog post all about ‘the summer slide’. In short, kids experience a significant dip in knowledge and academic skills over the long summer holidays. We stay open to prevent that from happening. Take a look at the fun and easy ways we can help you inject a little learning into their summer break.

1: Summer small group program: January 4-31

If your child is in Year 3 – 6, you’ll be able to enrol them in a summer small group program. Each session is designed to help prepare your child for the new year by focusing on reinforcing foundation concepts they’ll need to know. Here are the details:

  • Weekly sessions for students going into Years 4 to 7 in 2021
  • Max 4 students/session at $45 per session
  • Same terms and policies as normal groups

What you have to do: Keep an eye on your inbox for sign-up details. If your child is already enrolled in our small group tutoring program, there’s nothing for you to do. We’ll transition them into our summer group tutoring sessions for you after a quick two-week break over the holiday period (December 21-January 4).

If you’d like to express your interest in enrolling in summer groups today contact us through your Cluey Hub.

2: Free holiday practice for new and existing 1-to-1 customers: December 21 – January 31

Each student will receive a free set of practice questions which they’ll be able to complete on their own in the Cluey practice environment. It’s completely optional, but it’s a great opportunity for your kids to revise and consolidate what they’ve been learning this year. Here’s what you need to know:

  • Every Monday from December 21 to January 31
  • For students who are usually doing 1-to-1 sessions in Maths (Years 3-10) or English (Years 3 to 6)

If you don’t plan to continue your sessions during the holidays, no problem. Your tutor will go through the completed practice questions with your child when you start up again next year.

What you have to do: Nothing, it’s free to access. Your first practice set will be sent to you in the week commencing 21/12, which you can also access from your Learning Activity report.

3: Free webinars for parents: January 12 – March 9

We’ve planned a series of live webinars on a handful of need-to-know topics. Check out the full schedule below:

What you can do this summer

We’re all about keeping minds active during the holidays! To make the most of your summer with Cluey discover what you can do:

1: Continue with your sessions

We’re so excited to be able to continue giving your child the same support they’ve relied on throughout the year. In fact, there’s no better way to keep kids active and engaged during the long school holidays. Plus, summer tutoring can completely transform their academic performance in the next school year (read more about the benefits of summer tutoring here).

Your kids will be able to continue their online tutoring sessions as normal throughout the school holidays, except for during a couple of quick breaks:

  • Private sessions will break from December 24 to 27 and then again from December 31 to January 1
  • Group sessions will break from December 21 to January 3

Don’t worry, you’ll still have access to everything you need through the Cluey Hub

What you have to do: Nothing! Keep up the great work and continue enjoying your Cluey sessions.

2: Change your schedule to suit your summer

Your child can continue their tutoring sessions as normal, but you have the option to play with their schedule a little bit to fit in with holiday plans, whether that’s change the time, days or frequency of your sessions.

What you have to do: You can log into the Cluey Hub and change your sessions to a time that suits.

3: Try something different

Haven’t tried our 1-to-1 or small group format? Summer is the perfect time to try something new. There’s nothing quite like a little learning to help your child thrive, especially when they’re relaxed and in holiday mode. And while you’re at it, why not try tutoring in a different subject? The more exposure your child can get to experts in other subjects, the more their confidence will grow.

What you have to do: Get in touch with our friendly Customer Care team through the Cluey Hub.

Taking a break?

You may decide you want to take a break from tutoring over the holidays, but we recommend pausing your sessions rather than cancelling all together. Here’s why:

  • It costs nothing to keep your account active while you take a break and it’s easy to resume your sessions at any time, or update your schedule in the new year
  • You’ll still have access to your account, reports and recordings from your time with Cluey so far
  • We’ll be providing free holiday practice from December 21 to January 31 to existing 1-to-1 customers (depending on your child’s year and subject)
  • You’ll have access to our free webinar series for tips and advice to help prepare your child for the new year

What you have to do: Let us know that you want to take a break. Contact us through the Cluey Hub. We’ll put your sessions on pause until you’re ready to come back.
