Our Year 10 Mathematics Advanced program provides each student with an opportunity to review and build on mathematical areas of study introduced in our Year 9 Mathematics program. Students extend their algebraic techniques to help solve more complex equations and we introduce them to advanced topics including surds, logarithms, polynomials, circle geometry and functions. Each of these topics will be further developed in the advanced senior mathematics courses.
Our Year 11 Chemistry program addresses all relevant syllabus outcomes in NSW. Students learn about atomic structure and the periodic table, chemical bonding, balanced chemical equations and moles technique, heat capacity and thermochemistry, various chemical reaction types, acids and bases, redox chemistry, rates of reactions and energy changes reactions including Hess's Law, enthalpy and entropy. A solid understanding of these core concepts lays an essential foundation for students to excel in Year 12.
This program covers all the components of the national curriculum (and all relevant state variations). In Year 7, students start to explore the use of pronumerals and the language of algebra. Students develop a range of mental and technological strategies to enhance their computational skills. They learn about Pythagoras' theorem and acquire a variety of ways to demonstrate and communicate their mathematical understanding.
In Year 8, students consolidate their algebraic skills and develop more sophisticated ways to represent and communicate their mathematical understanding. They cover the key curriculum components of financial mathematics, ratios and rates, linear and non-linear relationships, data, circles and cylinders and properties of geometrical figures.
The Year 9 program covers Number and Algebra, Measurement and Geometry, Statistics and Probability, and introduces the study of Trigonometry. Students use appropriate strategies to solve problems and link mathematical ideas and the relevant terminology and notations to explain their thinking processes. Our Year 9 program places a great deal of importance on consolidating prior mathematical knowledge and laying the strongest foundations for senior Mathematics at every level.
We asked some of our students near Punchbowl what they thought of their tutoring sessions:
My daughter is in year 8. She struggled with maths so we decided on a tutor. The onboarding process was great - the consultant explained everything clearly including costs, contracts etc. The tutor was young and enthusiastic and my daughter really liked her. We will continue to use Cluey for tutoring.
Daughter is struggling with year 3 maths I turned to cluey for help and now the daughter has more confidence in herself and I can see her understanding of maths greatly improving.
Cluey has provided us with a convenient way for our year 4 son to build confidence in Maths and English. His tutors are so patient and understanding and reports are received almost immediately his session ends.
My child has a medical condition and has missed quite a bit of school. By joining Cluey learning he has gained confidence and has been able to fill in the gaps he has missed. He is always very excited to do the lessons and he always reflects back to me what he has learned. His tutor always checks with my son what he has been doing at school so he can extend on this.
My son is lost in the system. He is that good child that they do not see. We started Cluey a few weeks back. I love the flexibility of doing it in our own home. The maths tutor gets it. He gets my son to work through the problems and figures out where he is making mistakes. They work back through the problem to fix it. My son than works on other similar problems that he does not get. Our tutor works with my son on the deficits in his maths knowledge. Having one on one allows my son to work on his individual needs.
