Students build their analytical skills, gaining greater insight into the choices made by the creators of texts and how these impact readers. The focus on evaluation in the final years of the primary curriculum requires a larger technical vocabulary, greater ability to understand abstract meaning and figurative language, and to master a range of text types. Pre-essaying writing skills are consolidated in preparation for Year 7.
Our Year 10 Mathematics Advanced program provides each student with an opportunity to review and build on mathematical areas of study introduced in our Year 9 Mathematics program. Students extend their algebraic techniques to help solve more complex equations and we introduce them to advanced topics including surds, logarithms, polynomials, circle geometry and functions. Each of these topics will be further developed in the advanced senior mathematics courses.
Our Year 11 Chemistry program addresses all relevant syllabus outcomes in VIC. Students learn about atomic structure and the periodic table, chemical bonding, balanced chemical equations and moles technique, organic compounds including fuels and polymers, intermolecular forces and shapes of molecules, solubility and pH, reactions of acids, redox reactions, concentration, chromatography and volumetric analysis. A solid understanding of these core concepts is an essential foundation for students to excel in Year 12.
To make sure your student is assured of success, the Cluey Education Team has an ever-expanding bank of resources as well as units ready to support essays, oral presentations, creative and persuasive writing - as well as grammar and spelling to give that final polish. If you're looking for assistance or extension in Year 8, our tutors are ready to help.
Our Year 11 General Mathematics program covers all relevant outcomes as outlined in the VIC Syllabus. Students build on their practices of earning and managing money, computation and practical arithmetic. We introduce the fundamental skills of working with matrices, graphs and networks and provide practice to help students build mastery. The study of measurement and similarity are further developed for three-dimensional objects. A major application of linear relations is linear programming. Students will learn techniques and processes to find optimal solutions to linear programming problems. Our program explores the statistical investigation process, applications of trigonometry as well as number patterns and recursion.
We asked some of our students near Hoppers Crossing what they thought of their tutoring sessions:
Learned A Lot
"I had just learnt how expanding and factorising algebraic questions worked and their different solutions"
Had only just started and already I can see the benefits of 1:1 learning for my child! She looks forward to each session and is positively energised after the lesson.
Given my child more confidence and help on what is needed.
★★★★★
Great teacher. Works well with my shy child. Cluey challenges without dropping their confidence. Would recommend parents to try. Teaching is so hard to do when we learnt many years ago and with different techniques and technology. I feel less stressed my child is getting behind and happy that confidence is increasing.
Confidence growing , tailored to needs and highly recommend
★★★★★
Teaching is spot on and compatible with my sons way of learning. So far the tutoring is relevant to what is being taught at school and curriculum therefore reinforces and revises subject taught
The tutor is very helpful and welcoming. She is helping my daughter build confidence. so far we had 3 lessons and my daughters is really enjoying it and looks forward to the sessions. The tutor is professional and able to include my child into discussion which is really great improvement.
My child has a medical condition and has missed quite a bit of school. By joining Cluey learning he has gained confidence and has been able to fill in the gaps he has missed. He is always very excited to do the lessons and he always reflects back to me what he has learned. His tutor always checks with my son what he has been doing at school so he can extend on this.
My son is lost in the system. He is that good child that they do not see. We started Cluey a few weeks back. I love the flexibility of doing it in our own home. The maths tutor gets it. He gets my son to work through the problems and figures out where he is making mistakes. They work back through the problem to fix it. My son than works on other similar problems that he does not get. Our tutor works with my son on the deficits in his maths knowledge. Having one on one allows my son to work on his individual needs.
